The Cubs scored a run in the second inning on a throwing error and five pitchers made it stand up, combining on a six-hit shutout in a 1-0 victory over the St. Paul Saints on Sunday. P.J. Higgins came around to score on Brennen Davis' fielder's choice ground ball when Saints second baseman Hernán Pérez threw wildly to first base.
Louisville won a very different sort of game at Durham on Sunday, scoring 10 runs in the first six innings and holding on to beat the Durham Bulls 10-7. The Bats rallied from a 5-2 deficit after two innings, tying the game with three runs in the fourth and taking the lead on Kevin Newman's bases-loaded single in the fifth. Jose Barrero and Jason Vosler homered for the Bats in the win.
Iowa has the third-best overall winning percentage in the 20-team International League, which has an unforgiving playoff format. Only the teams with the best overall record in each half of the season advance to the postseason.
